Late summer - bits of colour

When lockdown started back in March, I didn't imagine we'd still be in such a dire situation when it came to late summer. My guesstimate for 'back to normal' was mid-May. I should've known that if anything can make a crisis even worse, it's a Tory government - although even I am surprised by the levels of incompetence.

So here we are. It's mid-August and things are still scary out there. But you know all that. What's going on it that tiny haven of sanity that is my back garden?

Crocosmia.

Today we had a grass-cutting and mammoth weeding session, because the weather's been a bit on the wet side lately.

We're running out of new things to do so it's all about maintenance now: not so exciting to write about. But the garden is also looking towards autumn.

Seedheads on the clematis 'Bill Mackenzie'.

I'm not complaining. Berwick is crazy at the moment with holidaymakers - probably who would usually be in Benidorm. So I am immensely grateful for being able to escape to my own little backyard.
