Some horticultural swings and roundabouts this week.

There was quite a breeze last night and my carefully-planted borage seeds in their eco-friendly (but lightweight) egg carton blew away. We found the box halfway across the garden and completely empty this morning. The good news is I have a few spare seeds so I'll try again and put them in something more substantial.

And this is nothing, because some gardener friends on Facebook have had things like whole plastic greenhouses turned over and have lost all sorts of stuff, so my flying borage is small potatoes in comparison. If you see what I mean.

Little gem

Oh, but, look at this little ruby-coloured gem. I have in fact managed to grow a radish.

(Yes, there are actually two, one a weird colour for a radish, but I seem to remember the seeds claimed to be a mixture).

I cannot tell you how exciting this has been. Apart from the salad leaves (which are great!), everything else is still "in progress", although I am optimistic about everything (apart from the tomatoes).

Summer is a-comin' in

And meanwhile blooms are bursting out and the garden smells of lilac and cerastium (snow in summer).

(The bush on the right of the pic is melissa, or lemon balm, which I will have to find a use for as it has gone ballistic).
